Capital Cheer Works With Texas School For the Blind

On the weekend of January 18th, the Texas School for the Blind hosted their annual regional cheerleading clinic and competition. Cheerleading squads came to Austin from New Mexico, Oklahoma, Louisana, Alabama, and Mississippi. Given that all the cheerleaders were blind or visually impaired gave a new meaning to hands-on education when we taught them their cheers and chants. All the cheerleaders had more energy than you could imagine and it was truly inspirational to see how excited they were to cheer on their school. Robert Torres, Katie Beittel and Andrew Haub taught a clinic Friday evening and judged their competition on the following Saturday.

March 10th & 11th, 2007 - Capital Dominates UCA Nationals

"Domination" - What started off as a fun slogan to pump up the team, slowly became a theme over the season. It's funny when we look back at choreography camp and see how far all the teams have come. Capital ventured to Orlando, Florida to attend UCA's National All-Star Cheerleading Championship. We arrived ready to compete and put our hearts into every performance. All the teams faced tough competition, but in the end we triumphed. The Hawks won 3rd Place in the Large Youth Level 2 division, the Ravens won 9th place in the Large Senior Level 3 division and the Falcons brought home Capital's first ever UCA National Title in the Small Senior Level 2 division.

The Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) is the world's largest cheerleading company.

It owns other big named cheerleading companies like the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA), American Cheerleaders Association (ACA), Athletic Championships, World Spirit Federation, American Championships and several others. It has set the standard for today's cheerleading and even helped organize the most common set of rules determined by the USASF. The National All-Star Cheerleading Championships, which is another name for UCA All-Star Nationals, is held every year in Orlando, Florida.

2006-2007 Season Starts off with a Bang!!!

October 14th & 15th, 2006 - America's Best Small Gym Nationals

It is the earliest in the season, Capital Cheer has ever competed. We've spent just over 6 months improving our skills and less than 10 weeks perfecting our routines. America's Best brought us to the Dallas Convention Center where we were able to show-off our routines and bring home the first trophies, banners & National Titles of the season.

Our youngest team, the Robins, is full of young ladies who have never competed before and were able to bring home their first championship trophy ever. The Hawks brought home a title and had the highest level 2 score of the entire competition and they're only a youth squad.

Capital Joins the U.S. All-Star Federation

What is the USASF?

USASF is the U.S. All Star Federation. It's about safety standards. It's about coaches' education. It's about providing a safe environment to allow for the continued growth of all star cheerleading and dance across the country. It's about parents knowing their children are being taught using safe methods that are in accordance with the standard of care. It's about standardization of rules from one competition to the next. It's about time.

The U.S. All Star Federation is officially organized as a not for profit corporation governed by a Board of Directors. The Board consists of industry leaders from major competition companies and nationally recognized all star program owners. The organization is also comprised of a number of committees, such as Rules; Selection; Membership; and Safety, Education and Ethics, that advise the Board on pertinent issues.

Grand, Grand, Grand Champions

February 18th, 2006 - COA's Fiest Open National Championships

It was a cold wintery day in San Antonio and it was also time for the first of Capital Cheer's 4 National Competitions in a row. The Tweeties, Jays, Eagles and Ravens have been working for months to prepare and perfect their routines. After getting a late start to the competition, the teams were ready to put on a show.

. . . And, what a show they put on! The Jays not only won first place, they were Grand Champions in the Level 2 Division. They scored higher than all other level 2 teams including several Junior and Senior teams and the Jays are only a mini team. The Eagles and Ravens also won first place and were announced the Level 3 and 4 Grand Champions. All in all, it was a great weekend for Capital Cheer All-Stars.
